

All in a Day's WorkI liked the heavy cedar table because I could lose myself in tracing the life in its ridges. Shy morning light slipped between closed blinds, trying to stay unnoticed at the edges of the room. I sat at the head of the table in your chair. I let the pattern of the blinds take my eyes from me and lost myself remembering Virginia. There would be thick snow on the tall trees beyond our back fence and I'd be able to feel the heaviness in the clouds. I'd still be curled around you in our too small bed,
